Top Birthday Party Ideas for Summer 2026

It’s that time of year again! Birthday season is right around the corner, and you’re on the hunt for the perfect party idea that your kid will love... and that won’t break the bank.

Here are a few ideas to get you inspired!

10. Nerf Battle

A Nerf battle party turns your home, park, or indoor venue into an energetic battle zone where kids complete missions, dodge foam darts, and play team-based games. It’s a great choice for kids who enjoy action and strategy

Timing: 30 minutes - 2 hours

Pros

  • Exciting and competitive
  • Works outdoors or indoors
  • Encourages teamwork
  • Great for older kids

Cons

  • Requires plenty of space
  • Needs blasters, darts, and safety equipment
  • Can get boring without structure

Ideas

Have different game modes ready to go. Game modes like Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture The Flag, Defuse the Bomb, and Zombies. Keep the game modes cycling with new teams often!

Make sure to have plenty of darts! It can be helpful to add more darts as the games go, as they will get damaged. Using damaged darts leads to more frequent jams (and nobody likes that!).

Get plenty of blasters! A trip to Goodwill can be great for some second hand blasters. Just make sure to try them before you buy them (I often take a few darts with me for testing purposes). There are several companies now. For a budget better blaster for the older kids, look at the 14+ models from Dartzone (sold at Target) or Adventure Force (sold at Walmart).

Barricades are great (if you have them!). But let your imagination run free here. Chairs, blankets, stools (for inside) can be great for kids to hide behind!

Don't forget the snack break! These can be a great time to setup for the next game!

9. Bounce House

Bounce houses and inflatable obstacle courses provide hours of jumping and climbing fun. Set up in the backyard or have a provider handle delivery and installation, and you’ve got nonstop entertainment.
